I picked up a pack of these as an impulse buy at a local sporting goods store. I figured that I might use them as tarp tie-downs (see customer image).The included cords are reflective when you shine a light on them, and they're easily strong enough to use as guy lines for tents and tarps. I was using taut-line hitches to tie things down before. The figure 9's are quicker than than tying those, so I'm happy enough. They're also light, and no trouble to carry. When I'm finished with the cords I just group all four of them together and tie them into a chain sinnet, as I do when I store most ropes, and they don't get tangled. The cords came with some rough edges on the ends, which were a little grabby. I trimmed them with some scissors, and solved the problem. I was impressed enough with these, that I bought a couple of the carabiner figure 9's. They're handy too, and you can just clip them to a molle attachment when not using them. =====... The reflective cord in this product is great and with a headlamp or flashlight at night, its reflectivity can be easily be seen from a distance. Even in night pictures of our campsite, the camera's flash lit up the reflective cord in a blaze of light. The four pre-cut lengths of 8-feet each means no measuring or cutting is necessary, which is a major plus.I didn't care as much for the plastic versions of the Figure 9 though. I'm sure there's nothing wrong with them, even though they are slightly smaller than the aluminum "Nite Ize Figure 9 Small Line Tightener", but the plastic ones just feel cheap. I use the aluminum versions instead with this reflective cord to stake out my tent's guy lines, and use the plastic Figure 9s included in this set to stake out my rainfly or as backup in case I lose one of the aluminum ones. I have used the larger figure 9s before for various things. I saw these on here and decided to pick them up. My plan was to use them while camping with my fiance for a long weekend. I packed them in with my gear and I was glad I did. Although my tent came with stakes to secure my rainfly to my tent to the ground which I used but there are loops to extend my rainfly out further for better ventilation. These did the trick. They worked perfectly and were a breee to figure out. The line held in some pretty harsh wind gusts and was quite impressed. The only thing I dont like about these is that actual figure 9s are plastic. The larger ones are metal and withstand a beating. The refelctivity worked decent on the included rope but you have to be standing dead on to see it well. Other than those two minor issues I fully reccomend this product |
